The 60-second checklist
- 1.Transparency is set. Select the MeshPart and check Transparency and LocalTransparencyModifier in the Properties panel. Either one at 1 makes the mesh fully see-through, and LocalTransparencyModifier is easy to set by accident from a script.
- 2.The size is near zero. Check the Size property. If any dimension is under about 0.02 studs the mesh is too thin to see. This is usually an export-scale mistake; see the wrong-scale guide.
- 3.The MeshId is missing or invalid. A MeshPart with an empty or broken MeshId renders nothing. For SpecialMesh, confirm the MeshId asset actually uploaded. Re-importing the mesh file fixes both cases.
- 4.Scale has a negative component. A negative Scale value flips normals, so faces get culled and the mesh looks invisible from outside. Set Scale to positive numbers and rotate instead.
- 5.It fell out of the world. If the model is not Anchored and attached to nothing, it drops through the baseplate the moment you press Play. The Explorer still shows it, positioned thousands of studs below. Anchor the PrimaryPart.
- 6.It is inside terrain or another part. Move the model 10 studs up and to the side. Camera clipping and fully enclosed geometry hide meshes that are otherwise fine.
Invisible only on mobile
Studio runs on your desktop GPU. A phone does not. The two usual reasons a mesh renders in Studio but disappears or degrades in-game on mobile:
- Triangle count. The MeshPart import ceiling is roughly 21,000 triangles, and anything above 10,000 is already risky on low-end devices. With Mesh Streaming enabled, heavy meshes can be decimated hard or stripped entirely on weak hardware. See the triangle limit guide.
- Texture memory. A 4K texture on a small prop can blow the mobile budget on its own. Downscale to 1024px or less for most props.
Visible but blank or white
If the mesh renders but has no color, that is a UV problem, not an invisibility problem: the file embeds a texture but the mesh carries no UV coordinates (TEXCOORD_0), so Studio paints it white. In Blender, run Smart UV Project or restore the original UV map, then re-export as GLB with the texture embedded.
Still invisible?
- 1.Check the Output window for import warnings.
- 2.Re-import the original file into a fresh baseplate place. If it renders there, the problem lives in your place: lighting, streaming settings, or a script that sets Transparency at runtime.
- 3.Disable Fog and check Lighting Technology; heavy fog with a low End distance hides distant meshes.
